Imagine that you’re getting married soon. If you have a late vendor cancellation (or you’re a procrastinator at heart) it can be really hard to find quality, available wedding vendors. The well-reviewed vendors that you can find high on Google are already booked until next year, and you’re left with a mad scramble of emails, phone calls and contact forms to find anyone else.
Vendors who are establishing new businesses have the opposite problem. Since weddings tend to get booked far in advance, they usually have near-term availability while they are booking work for the following year. They often have years of experience in their field before starting their new venture, and are intent on providing great service as they build their business.
It’s an ideal match. If you need a wedding vendor quickly, here are ten new businesses who could be your savior in 2016.
Venues
Crested Hen Farms, High Falls

The 3,000 square foot venue is newly available for weddings, but has been around since 1830 as an English-Dutch dairy barn and is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. A rental includes the use of the barn, an outdoor bar and terrace, adjacent fields for tents if necessary, valet parking, and a bonfire to end the event. It is a working farm, and there are indeed crested hens on the premises.
Mount Tremper Arts, Mount Tremper

If you’re looking for a rustic feel, this venue is located on 150 beautiful wooded acres adjacent to the Catskill Forest Preserve. They can accommodate weddings up to 140 guests, and in addition to their post-and-beam style event facility, the site rental includes two nights of onsite cabin/trailer lodging for 16+ people, fire circles, chairs, on-site gardens, hiking trails, streams and a pond.
Senate Garage, Kingston

This converted 1921 garage space accommodates between 100 and 450 people and is adjacent to Kingston’s Senate House State Park, which is available for a small additional fee. It’s in the heart of Uptown Kingston, so it’s surrounded by great restaurants, unique bars and bed and breakfast options. They just opened in January, and their website features a fully transparent calendar so you can see when their available dates are at all times.
Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, High Falls

The Sanctuary’s mission centers around rescuing and caring for farmed animal refugees; as a venue, they provide a pastoral setting for unique vegan weddings for up to 140 guests. The site rental includes a dining hall, patio overlooking the Shawangunk Ridge and Rondout Creek, two outdoor pavilions and a trail, indoor restrooms, tables and folding chairs.
Florist
Molly Marquand Flowers, Catskills

Molly has a M.S. in Botany and has a background in plant conservation. Her unique background means that her bridal bouquets and arrangements balance aesthetic beauty with a respect for nature and her passion for foraging and growing local flowers right on her 110 acre farm.
Twilight Acres Homegrown, Stone Ridge

This flower farm and studio offers bouquets and arranged heirloom and specialty-cut flowers for weddings and events. Most of the flowers used are grown right in Stone Ridge.

Opened in 2014, Diego’s Taqueria quickly has become a staple of Uptown Kingston that provides delicious tacos and great service in a fun atmosphere. Their reputation is literally spotless, as they have a perfect 5.0 rating in over 50 Facebook reviews. As of January, they also got into the catering business. Julie’s Pies and Cheesecakes, Kerhonkson

Julie turned her lifelong love of cooking and baking from a hobby into a business by building a commercial kitchen in her home. She's focused on making great pies and cheesecakes after seeing a need for them in the area, and has rave reviews on her Facebook page.

Jenn Lynn Morse Weddings, Kingston

Jenn uses both digital photography and “large format” 1930s-style photography to tell stories and convey the bonds between people in her work. She offers full wedding coverage and portrait sessions for related occasions.
